At least 4,350 residents of five barangays, in Pudtol, Apayao are now enjoying the benefits of clean and safe water with the completion of two potable water system projects funded under the Bottom-up Budgeting (BuB) of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG).

Regional Director Marlo L. The said projects were inaugurated and formally turned over to the Municipality of Pudtol during its recently concluded 3rd Pinya Festival.

Iringan together with DILG Apayao Provincial Director Marvin A. Basquez turned over the responsibility of maintaining these projects to the local officials headed by Mayor Batara O. Laoat.

In attendance during the turn-over ceremony are local officials and department heads of the municipality of Pudtol, representatives from different organizations such as women KALIPI, senior citizens, elementary and high school students, and DILG Apayao personnel.

Iringan said the projects were realized through the active civil society participation and the local government’s initiative and assistance from national agencies.

“The DILG provided the BuB funds for projects identified by the communities through their CSO representatives, with the local government units (LGU) implementing the projects,” he stated.

Provision of Potable Water Supply is one of the priority programs of the LGU as included in the Executive-Legislative Agenda of the present administration with the goal of addressing the problem on water-borne diseases and access to safe, adequate and potable water supply leading to the improvement on the quality of life of the constituents.
