DILG R9 aims for 100% LGU compliance to FDP

August 28, 2014

To help local governments comply with the Full Disclosure Policy, the Department’s regional offices has been extending technical assistance to local governments in their respective jurisdictions by assisting them in making their own websites where they can post the required documents.

In line with this, DILG Region IX recently facilitated a hands-on training to a team of technical personnel in the municipality of Liloy, Zamboanga del Norte, showing them the step-by-step procedures in making a website and managing the same.

Regional Director Paisal O. Abutazil stressed this strategy is being employed by the Department to promote and enhance transparency and accountability practices in local government units (LGUs) in accordance with the Full Disclosure Policy (FDP). FDP mandates all LGUs to publicly disclose their finances and other financial transactions in three (3) conspicuous places in the LGU, website and the print media.

“As much as possible, we want all LGUs in our region to be 100 percent compliant to the FDP,” Abutazil said.

The training was facilitated by Regional Information Technology Officer Ard Catalino who helped the municipal government in designing and developing its own website.

On the other hand, Liloy Mayor Atty. Felixberto C. Bolando assured that the team, who were trained as administrators of the website, will continuously enhance and upgrade the website for any development.

“Thanks to the DILG for helping us set up our own website. Now, the people of Liloy town can look forward to a more transparent and accountable governance,” he said.

“Moreover, we want our websites to be more interactive that our constituent would continually be informed and involved,” the mayor added. (Lemuel C. Mejares, LGOO II/ Designated RIO)
