A total of 429 Certifications on Civil Service Commission (CSC) Eligibility for Central Luzon (CL) local officials have been issued by DILG Region 3 for the First Semester of the year.

DILG Regional Director Florida Dijan said the issuance of CSC Eligibility certifications is among the frontline services being provided by the Department pursuant to Republic Act 10156 and CSC Memorandum Circular No. 2012-13.

Republic Act 10156, which was signed into law on December 20, 2011, confers qualified members of the Sangguniang Bayan, Sangguniang Panlungsod and Sangguniang Panlalawigan with the Sanggunian Member Eligibility or SME. On the other hand, under CSC Memorandum Circular 2012-13, elected and appointed barangay officials including Sangguniang Kabataan Chairmen who had rendered the required years in service as stated in this circular can avail of the Barangay Official Eligibility.

Both issuances grant CSC sub-professional eligibility which enables these local officials to qualify and apply for first and second level positions in the government.

Of the 429 certifications issued, 416 are for barangay officials and 13 for Sanggunian Panglungsod and Bayan Members.
