OROQUIETA CITY- In view of the nationwide simultaneous election for Vice Mayors’ League of the Philippines (VMLP), the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Misamis Occidental Provincial Field Office facilitated the conduct of chapter elections in the province on July 29 at Villa Amor Hotel and Restaurant, Oroqueta City, Misamis Occidental.
DILG Mis Occ Provincial Director Pablio Benitez, Jr. assured that the Department is always willing to provide technical and administrative support to the vice mayors in the province for matters aligned with the local and national goals.
The VMLP is mandated to collaborate with the national, local, and international agencies and organizations in attaining efficient and effective local legislation. They also develop programs that enrich the capabilities of local legislative bodies.
Benitez said that VLMP Mis Occ candidates ran unopposed and received zero election protests.
The new set of officers for VLMP Mis Occ Chapter 2019-2022 are: Jorge Almonte (Oroquieta City) – President; Alberto Penas (Tangub City) – Vice President; Estela Estano (Tudela) – Secretary General; Jay Bergado (Lopez Jaena) – Treasurer; Crisanne Anne Marie Macias (Panaon) – Public Relations Officer; and Vice mayors Evelyn Dumanjug (Bonifacio), Glory Fe Roa (Clarin), Simplicia Neri (Ozamiz City), Jimmy Regalado (Aloran), and Antonio Lawas (Calamba) - Board of Directors.
Outgoing Vice Mayor Estela Estano (Tudela) facilitated the conduct of welcome meeting attended by all city and municipal Vice-Mayors right after the election was completed.
The Vice-Mayors formally welcomed the new set of officers and discussed new initiatives, pressing matters, and current VMLP direction in the province.
According to Benitez, the DILG Provincial Office is also set to monitor the election for the League of Municipalities Mis Occ chapter later this year.
