To give newly hired contact tracers (CTs) an overview on how contact tracing works, the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Region 7 conducted an online general orientation in Central Visayas in October.
The DILG is hiring 50,000 CTs to augment the existing teams of local government units (LGUs) and ramp up contact tracing efforts to mitigate the spread of COVID-19. In Central Visayas, DILG-7 employed close to 5,000 individuals to be the frontline in the region’s massive attempt to break the chain of transmission.
“Contact tracing is one of the vital strategies in our fight against this pandemic. It determines who is going to be swab tested and treated. What you will do in the coming months is very important. We all know this is a risky job, but more than the risk is your love for your neighbors, community and country,” DILG-7 Director Leocadio Trovela said.
