In its pursuit to better equip the engineers and information officers, the Project Development and Management Unit (PDMU) technical personnel and provincial information officers of Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG)- 7 recently went through a two-day training on the fundamentals of photography in Cebu City.
PDMU Chief Maria Thelya Oporto said that the basic photography workshop is very essential for the engineers and information officers to better perform their duties in documenting the Department’s programs, projects, and activities.
Said workshop was facilitated by Aubry Lerio, a former Cebuano photojournalist and freelance cinematographer.
During the first day, the participants were taught on the basic principles of photography, such as composition, lightings, aperture settings, techniques and handling of a camera.
Workshop participants also learned to properly take photos that tell stories using digital single-lens reflex (DSLR) camera, smartphones, and other digital cameras.
Participants were tasked to apply their learnings by taking photographs from the field and snapshots of random things. Submitted photo outputs were presented for critiquing.
Participants were from field offices of Bohol, Negros Oriental, Cebu and Siquijor.
