Responding to President Rodrigo Duterte's call to rid the streets of illegal obstructions and to return the roads to the people, the DILG Region 6 is currently conducting a road clearing validation in the Province of Antique through the members of the Road Clearing Validation Teams (RCVTs).
The validation focuses on the compliance of the LGUs to DILG Memorandum Circular No. 2020-145 for the resumption of road clearing operations after eight months of suspension due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
DILG Antique Provincial Director Cherryl P. Tacda emphasized that the RCVTs are cross-posted to ensure the impartiality of the validation process. This means that during the validation activities, the validation teams are not assigned in their original LGU of assignment or residence. LGUs shall submit reports detailing their compliance to the components of road clearing to the validation teams within the validation period.
The RCVT is composed of DILG Local Government Operations Officers (LGOOs) and representatives of the Bureau of Fire (BFP), the Philippine National Police (PNP), and civil society organizations (CSOs).
Tacda assured that wearing face masks and face shields and social distancing shall be strictly observed in all face-to-face activities conducted during the validation.
The road clearing validation in the Province of Antique covers the period February 18-26, 2021.
