While Northern Mindanao is now reclassified under a modified general community quarantine, the Department of the Interior and Local Government Region X Field Office (DILG-10) called on the local government units (LGUs) to stay vigilant and adapt to the ‘new normal’ to prevent resurgence of COVID-19 cases.
DILG 10 Regional Director Arnel M. Agabe underscored that provincial governors, city/municipal mayors, and punong barangays should continue to follow the guidelines being implemented by the national government and their respective LGUs whatever community quarantine classification they may belong.
“We will only be fully prepared if everyone does their part. This is why we are calling for the full support of our local government units by crafting policies in line with the ‘new normal’”, RD Agabe stressed.
Agabe stressed the people of Northern Mindanao should remain disciplined even if there will be an easing up of restrictions in the Region.
He said that the public should continue to wear masks and observe social distancing even as public transportation resumes operations with limited passenger capacity.
Earlier DILG Secretary Eduardo M Ano said that for the country to heal as one, the national government and all LGUs must fully cooperate towards a unified and orderly implementation of the Bayanihan law.
“When we say Bayanihan, isantabi po muna ang pambabatikos at pamomolitika. Paigtingin ang pagbibigayan at pagtutulungan,” Ano said.
Meanwhile, the Regional Inter-Agency Task Force (RIATF) through the Northern Mindanao Task Force also enjoins LGUs to continue strictly enforcing the policies and guidelines of the national leadership.
