Commitment, self-motivation, focus and open mindedness.

According to DILG-10 Regional Director Arnel M. Agabe, the said values are essential to succeed in the 51st batch Local Government Operations Officers (LGOO) Training of the Department.

Scheduled from May 8-20, 2017, the General Orientation of the 51st batch LGOO Training for Region 10 officially started and is being held at the DILG 10 LGRC Room, Cagayan de Oro City. For Region 10, seven LGOOs qualified in the training.

Modules to be discussed are (1) The DILG and its Role in Local Governance, (2) The Philippine Local Government Systems and Salient Features of the Local Government Code, and (3) Public Accountability and Administrative Matters.

“For the next days, it will help you to reflect on the functions of the Department, including its mandate, mission and vision. This orientation will also remind us why we exist and why the DILG is still relevant today and will continue to be relevant as a Department of the government,” said Agabe, in his opening message, during the activity.

“We hope that when you undergo all the trainings and exercises, you would become better LGOOs. Let us show to everyone that we could assist, guide, and supervise LGUs so that they could also render the best service to their respective constituents,” he added.

The Training for LGOOs is a competency-based training (CBT) program intended to equip LGOOs with the necessary knowledge and skills, proper attitudes and desirable values. Further, this will enhance their competencies when they assume higher positions, such as being a Municipal Local Government Operations Officer (MLGOO) or as a technical staff involved in operations.

The General Orientation is the first of the three components of the LGOO training. The other components are Enhancement Training and Competency Assessment.
