ComVal awards SGLG to Outstanding Barangays

March 14, 2019

In celebration of the 21st Founding Anniversary and the 12th Bulawan Festival, the Provincial Local Government Unit of Compostela Valley, through the initiative of Gov. Jayvee Tyron Uy and in partnership with the Department of the Interior and Local Government, conducted a province-wide competition for the Most Outstanding Barangay in Compostela Valley, participated by a total of 11 barangays which were nominated by their respective municipalities.

Inspired by DILG’s Memorandum Circular 2018-194 which institutionalizes the Seal of Good Local Governance for Barangays, the competition aims to give recognition and incentives to Barangay Local Government Units that excelled in performing their tasks and delivery of services.

The evaluation team, composed of representatives from DILG Provincial Office and the Provincial Environmental and Natural Resources Office, conducted the on-site evaluation of entries from February 12-21, 2019, using the same criteria set by DILG’s MC 2018-194, albeit, using a different point system.

The awarding of winners was conducted on the 4th day of the Bulawan Festival, March 6, 2019, with Barangay San Miguel of the Municipality of Compostela as the grand winner, receiving a plaque of recognition and a cash prize of Php 75,000.00, courtesy of the Provincial Local Government of Compostela Valley. Barangay Poblacion of Monkayo and Barangay Gubatan of Maco followed closely as 1st and 2nd runners-up who also received plaques of appreciation and cash prizes.
