Secretary Eduardo M. Año
As a member agency of the Oplan Balik Eskwela program of the DepEd, the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) expresses full support to the DepEd’s reconfigured Brigada Eskwela and Oplan Balik Eskwela programs as we continue to fight COVID-19.
The education of the youth, despite the challenges brought by the COVID-19 public health emergency, remains to be one of the top priorities of the government. And as Brigada Eskwela and Oplan Balik Eskwela take new forms to adapt to the new normal, the DILG pledges our complete cooperation to ensure that these will be implemented down to the grassroots level.
While local government units (LGUs) are focused on various programs and activities to defeat the coronavirus, we wish to assure our students, parents, and teachers that this Department and all local government units down to the barangays are committed to extend whatever assistance is required to make this school year a productive one.
In aid of the 2020 Brigada Eskwela and Oplan Balik Eskwela programs, I enjoin all LGUs and all barangays to assist the schools within your jurisdictions adjust to the new learning modalities. I encourage all LGUs to be more creative in assisting schools and students as they immerse in a new learning environment while I commend those local chief executives, who, as early as now, have committed to provide assistance such as laptops and printed materials, among others. Mabuhay po kayo!
In reference to this year’s Brigada Eskwela and Oplan Balik Eskwela slogan, “Bayanihan sa Paaralan”, I urge everyone, especially the parents, to join with government to ensure that our youth get the best possible education despite the challenges of new learning methods.
Magtulungan po tayo para sa patuloy na pag-unlad ng karunungan ng ating mga kabataan.
